Ok, you were the first to say the ball was actually fumbled. And the clock does continue to run till the official gives the proper crossed arms overhead clock stoppage sign. Coeburn does use an authorized/dedicated clock operator that is seperate from the scoreboard operator and his only job is to watch the referee and start and stop the clock on his signal.

That's my point. If it's the clock not stopping, that's on the refs for not giving the signal. If the clock needs to stop on a deadball change of possession, even if they are sorting out a pile created from an onside kick, then let the other officials do that and the referee needs to have his heads up enough to do his job and stop the clock.
I was up in the pressbox above the clock operator next to the guy filming the game for Coeburn, and that's the first thing I said when the clock was running and Pound's assistants next to us in the pressbox were yelling about it--the ref never signaled, and it's up to him to do so before the clock operator can stop it legally.
It doesn't sound like the clocked needed to be stopped. There wasn't a change of possession which requires it. A dog pile on a fumble does not stop it. Had Pound recovered the fumble the clock would have stopped, due to Pound being awarded a new series.
